QUINCY (WGEM) — An Ohio man was arrested Monday inside the Quincy Walmart for possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license and shoplifting.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) District 20 reported Tuesday on the recovery of a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze stolen from the state of Ohio, and the arrest of its driver, Erik Grant, 34 of Saint Marys, Ohio.

ISP stated that they received a call of a stolen vehicle in the area of 54th and Broadway in Quincy around 8:30 a.m. Monday. The vehicle was located by a trooper in the Shottenkirk Toyota parking lot. As the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver (later identified as Grant) fled on foot into a wooded area north of 54th and Broadway.

Officials stated a perimeter was established with assistance from the Secretary of State Police, the Quincy Police Department and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
