Wakonda State Park in Lewis County, Missouri, is still closed as of Tuesday but could open back up soon.
Park officials said they are working hard to open the park by August 1st.
They are repainting bathrooms and laying gravel down in areas that were underwater after flooding.
But park officials said the beach and boat ramp will not open with the rest of the park because they are still under water.
“We’re going to open the park August 1st for camping,” said Natural Resource Manager Kyle Scott. “There’s going to be some day use areas available and one of our shelters. The boat ramps will remain closed as well as the beach until the water gets down to where we can manage those areas and get them cleaned up to open to the public.”
Scott said there are 4 full time staff and a handful of part time staff working on cleaning up the park.
He estimates 50% of the park is still under water.
