Adams County assesses flood damage with state and federal agencies

Adams County Emergency Management officials have met with FEMA and IEMA about reimbursement funds for flood damage.

The county and the emergency associations assessed damage throughout the county.

Officials estimate there to be over $3 million worth of damage from flooding but it will be awhile before officials know how much of that will be reimbursed.

“It’ll be several weeks before those assessments are completed and then we would look, depending on the outcome of those assessments to potentially prompt the governor to request a federal disaster declaration of the president if we meet all of the criteria established by FEMA,” said Adams County Emergency Management Director John Simon.

Simon said it will be a couple of months before they know more from FEMA and IEMA.
