Buzz Off Cancer raises thousands to support local patients

The Quincy Medical Group  Healthcare Foundation held the second annual Buzz Off Cancer event this past June. The event featured 19 “buzzees” who shaved their heads in support of local cancer patients. In total, the event raised $35,000 which will directly support local patients.

A check presentation from Buzz Off Cancer to the QMG Healthcare Foundation was held Thursday.

The mission of Buzz Off Cancer is to provide financial support to local cancer patients while bringing awareness to the emotional and physical impact of the disease.

Each of the “buzzees” raised money over the weeks leading up to the event. Funds will be distributed to area patients through the QMG Healthcare Foundation.

“The support generated from this event goes directly to patients through our Oncology Patient Assistance Fund. This fund provides local patients with financial assistance toward their basic living expenses, so they can focus on their health,” said Laura Tenhouse, QMG Director of Community Relations.

“Buzz Off Cancer not only raises funds to help alleviate the financial burden of cancer, but it allows our community an opportunity to show their support to all those impacted by cancer.”
