CANTON, MO (WGEM) — Wednesday marked the first day of school for students in the Canton School District.

Wednesday morning, students packed the halls eager to start the new school year.

Canton Elementary principal Stephanie Eaton said she saw a lot of excitement from students, faculty, staff and parents, as many dropped their kids off at school. She said she’s looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

“There’s a lot of excitement in the air this morning,” Eaton said. “Students, faculty, staff and students are really excited to get the school year started. We’ve had a lot of construction and improvements going on, so everyone’s real excited to get back in the swing of things.”

“Students should expect a lot of new technology integration into the curriculum,” said Eaton. “Our teachers some of them have moved around a little bit to provide a little new excitement for themselves and the students and we’re just ready to hit the ground running with a lot of hard work.”

Eaton said if your student needs any type of school supplies, to reach out to the school district. She said they have a lot of materials and are working with the community to get students all the resources they need.
