New Keokuk public schools maintenance facility

KEOKUK- Students returning to school on Friday will come back to a new district maintenance facility.

The $210,000 facility was paid for through voter approved funding.

Maintenance workers say it’ll make their jobs easier.

“It just makes it a whole lot nicer because everything is all on one level,” maintenance supervisor Aaron Hinton said. “The old building was multiple floors, that made it difficult to get everything in and out of because we were up and down the stairs.”

Crews said the old maintenece building at the Jefferson School is in rough shape, with a leaking roof and boarded up windows.

No plans have been announced for that facility
