A new mural could be coming to the West side of the Hannibal City Hall, but city officials said to make it happen it’ll take support of the community.
The new mural would be painted by muralist Ray Harvey who has painted other murals in Hannibal. However, he and city leaders said to fund the project a Kickstarter fundraising campaign is starting and it must be successful. City officials said using the Kickstarter means the mural won’t come out of tax payers pockets.
“It just says Mark Twain, it says the river, it says eagles, it has a boy on the to show the spirit of boyhood, I feel like it’s just a feel good painting,” said Harvey describing the painting.
The Kickstarter campaign is looking to raise $15,000 by Midnight of September 8th, they’ve already raised almost $3,000 of that. Organizers said for now you can just pledge to donate if the campaign is successful, otherwise no money is taken.
