QUINCY, IL (WGEM) — This weekend, Quincy Public Schools will sell different pieces of furniture they no longer need from two of their old elementary schools.
The first sale will be at Adams Elementary School from 7 a.m. to noon and then at Berrian from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday. Items such as bookshelves, desks, and tables will be up for grabs. All proceeds will go to Denman Elementary’s Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support program.
“This is equipment that was originally paid for by the tax payers so the responsible thing to do is to let some of them have a shot to buy it back and that way we can also get some money for some of our programs so it is kind of a win win that way,” said Bob Gough, Quincy Public School Official.
“All the of the equipment is still in pretty good shape and is very reasonably priced,” said Gough. “It’s about a third of what you’d spend for some new equipment.”
School officials said the items are priced by the condition it is in, most are under 100 dollars, and there will be no negotiations on prices.
