A new, bigger show of patriotism unveiled in Downtown Quincy

A new American flag is now flying high above Washington Park.

Members of the Quincy Exchange Club and the Flags of Honor Program raised the new 10X15 flag on Friday.

Organizers say they decided to change it because they thought the old flag was too small for the flag pole.

“We want to make sure the flag is flown more often and properly in the City of Quincy,” said Art Awerkamp with the Quincy Exhange Club. “We thought no better place than Washington Park to have a big flag for everyone to enjoy.

The flag was bought from proceeds from the Flags of Honor Program, where the Quincy Exchange Club places flags in resident’s yards four times a year for a fee.
