Macomb comic store to close its doors

Come next week, a popular comic and game shop in downtown Macomb will close for good.

The comic store, ‘A Boy and His Tiger’, has been around since 1983.

Owner John Coker said he took the store over about five years ago and renamed it in honor of the last owner Paul, after he passed away.

He said he is relocating to Morton, Illinois, due to his wife’s job and he’s going to miss everything the store and Macomb have to offer.

“This is a store that kids grew up in,” Coker said. “It’s where I grew up in. It’s always been a place for kids to kind of hangout and meet people and stay off the streets. So that part, you know, that’s the part I’ll miss.”

Coker said he plans to open up a new store called ‘To The Moon And Back’ in Morton.

That store will be more children’s book based, with the possibility of a few comics.

The store’s last day in Macomb is Saturday.
