Missing McDonough County man found hiding in his own attic

MACOMB (WGEM) — McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout has reported the arrest of a Good Hope, Illinois, couple for Felony Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Justice.

Petitgout stated that James Wade, 55, was reported missing by his wife, Molly Rusher, 38, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Detectives from the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and Detectives from the Macomb Police Department began working the case, and were able to determine that Rusher gave some conflicting statements and lied to detectives.

A search warrant was executed at the couples home on Friday morning by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and the Macomb Police Department.

Petitgout stated that Wade was found safe and sound hiding in his attic at the residence. He was taken into custody along with his wife, Rusher.

Rusher and Wade were both charged with Felony Disorderly Conduct (False Police Report) and Obstructing Justice.

The Macomb Police Department and the McDonough County States’ Attorneys Office assisted in the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide any more details as to why Rusher made the false report, but stated that the investigation is ongoing.
