City officials say business as usual after councilman’s motorcycle crash

KEOKUK – City officials are reacting to the motorcycle crash that put city councilman Devon Dade in the hospital Sunday.

“I was devastated,” Mayor Tom Richardson said. “Devon is a great young man, I like him a lot and have a lot of respect for him.”

On Monday, crews worked to repair the front window of Mark’s Barber Shop on Main Street

Police said Dade’s motorcycle left the road and crashed through the window.

They said Dade was taken to Keokuk Unity hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Richardson said he hopes Dade makes a speedy recovery and said until then, it’s business and usual.

“We won’t fill his seat,” Richardson said. “Knowing Devon, he might be back in a short period of time because he knows he’s strong, he’s a fighter and I think he’ll make a comeback.”
