Progress is being made on plans to build a new public library in Brown County.
Brown County Public Library Director Richard Young said they’ve purchased the land behind the post office, to build the new library on.
He said the privately funded project will be nearly three times the size of the current one.
He said in just two years, more than three thousand people have joined programs through the library and it’s time to expand.
“We have outgrown our facility with our materials and with our programming,” Young said. “We have a great staff here who have worked hard with programming and circulation and social media to bring people into the library.”
He said they plan to send a plan out to architects next week, then choose a contractor and the project will then go out for bids.
He said he estimates the project to cost two to three million dollars, but it’s too early to set a completion date.
