Voters prepare for Central Lee bond vote

FORT MADISON (WGEM) — The Lee County Auditor’s Office is reminding voters of important information before Tuesday’s special election.

Only voters registered in the Central Lee School District can cast their ballot to decide the outcome of Central Lee’s $12.9 million school bond.

Auditor Denise Fraise said there will be only one polling station, located at Central Lee High School and it will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Fraise said those who aren’t registered to vote shouldn’t worry, as Iowa voters can always register and vote on election days.

“They just have to bring proof of identity which is like your drivers license,” she said. “If your drivers license doesn’t have the correct address on it then you do need to have proof of residency.”

Pre-registered voters only need a photo ID.

Fraise says they’ve already seen a steady early voting turnout with almost 470 people casting their ballot.
