MONTROSE, Ia. – Investigators warned Lee County residents to stay vigilant as they searched for a fugitive Tuesday.
Sheriff Stacey Weber said it started on Monday when a high speed chase in a stolen truck ended with a suspect running into a heavily wooded area.
He says it’s easy for people to keep their families and their belongings safe by making themselves a hard target.
“Lock your doors, lock your garages, make sure you take your keys out of your vehicles because folks like this are opportunistic,” Weber said. “If they see a vehicle with some keys in it, they’re going to try to take it.”
Weber described the suspect as a white male with a salt and pepper beard.
He urged anyone with information to call 911 or the Lee County Sheriff’s Office
