Water is draining out of the Huckleberry Park Pond in Hannibal.
Crews began draining the pond Tuesday. The work is part of a project to renovate the pond.
Officials said all the water should be removed by the end of the week which is when they will begin the process to ripwrap the banks of the pond.
The renovations also include a new sidewalk and handicap accessible dock.
“It’s our most active park and it’s been on our capital improvement plan for probably 15 years. It’s just one of those that kept getting pushed off due to the cost. We knew it was going to be a costly project but in the end it’s going to be a nice addition,” said Aron Lee with the parks and rec department.
The total cost of the project is just over $330,000. $184,000 is covered by a state grant the parks and rec department received last year.
