MACOMB (WGEM) — An Avon, Illinois, woman has been arrested in rural McDonough County after allegedly stealing two pickups.
McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout has reported the arrest of Kimberley Myers, 34, for burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $500.00 and criminal trespass to property.
Petitgout stated that Myers was suspected to be under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of her arrest.
Petitgout reported that at 11:22 p.m. on Sunday deputies responded to 16060 North 2100th Rd. in McDonough County for a call of a stolen 2003 Dodge pickup, in place of the stolen Dodge was a maroon Chevy truck.
Investigators said the Chevy matched the description of a vehicle involved in a call deputies had responded to earlier that evening of a suspicious vehicle in Walnut Grove Township.
During that call, deputies said a citizen had reported a maroon Chevy truck parked on private property. The caller said they confronted the driver who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. The driver drove off before deputies arrived.
Deputies were able to determine that the maroon Chevy truck was stolen from rural Avon, Illinois, and worked with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office in locating the stolen 2003 Dodge pickup at 397 McGrew Drive in Avon.
Petitgout stated that deputies arrested Myers at midnight on Monday after she admitted to taking both vehicles.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office will have similar charges on Myers.
