Date set for auction of old QPS properties

You could have a chance to buy a former Quincy elementary school later this month, as QPS moves to get rid of properties administration said are’t needed anymore.

QPS Superintendent Roy Webb said they plan to auction off the former Berrian, Madison, Ellington, and Adams schools as well as an empty lot next to Berrian.

There is a minimum bid set for each property, Berrian’s is $15,000, the lot next to it is $10,000, $200,000 for Adams and Madison, and $10,000 for Ellington.

“They all have unique historical perspective in town, they could all be re-purposed to do great things in Quincy, they’re all good buildings, so there is a lot of possibility there,” said Webb.

Webb said the auction will be Saturday the 28th at 9 a.m. at the Berrian School, then the lot next to it, then to each of the other schools every hour.
