Workforce Summit to address skilled labor shortage

Your input is wanted about the workforce needs in the Tri-States.

The Hannibal Regional Economic Development Council and Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering together to host a 2019 Workforce Summit at Clover Road Christian Church Tuesday, September 23 from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Area employers, educators and community leaders will participate in a round table discussion to address skills gaps and to help design plans to address the needs of the workforce.

Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director McKenzie Disselhorst said businesses and leaders working together will be the key to turning things around.

“We are really seeing a lot more collaboration here in Hannibal and I would expect that it would be true in other communities as well, I think we are realizing we can’t serve all the workforce needs of our community on our own,” Disselhorst” said “So it really takes collaboration and thinking a little bit differently about these things than they have in the past.”

People can also join breakout sector sessions to further identify workforce needs and training solutions.

The summit is free and open to the public.
