Short of a rematch with Forreston in the state championship, a 2019 Camp Central revenge tour would only have one other stop, Beardstown.
Camp Point Central Head Coach Brad Dixon said, “I talked to the seniors about, what more special home coming could you have asked for your senior year. When you first put that uniform on and then you get a chance to play an undefeated team on your homecoming that’s had our number for the last three years so hopefully our guys are excited. I think they’re going to be and we’re ready.”
The battle of unbeatens has huge WIVC North implications. Defensively the challenge for the Panthers is a a bevy of talented ball carriers led by senior Pascal Guilavogui.
Senior fullback and middle linebacker Jaxon Mueller said, “Obviously got some great backs. Pascal’s been around for a while and they got Avery (Quigley) and (Clint) Cooper back there that can do some things too so we just got to keep them contained and we’ll do good.”
Over the last four weeks the Panthers have won by nearly 40 points per game. Something they don’t expect to stay the same against an undefeated Beardstown team this week, but it just has them chomping at the bit even more to take on the Tigers.
Junior running back and cornerback Brandon Rossmiller added that, “Good competition makes each team better. And this is going to be a good competition, I think it’ll make both of us better.”
Mueller also said that, “Yeah it’s going to be a great game. We know they play some great ball and it’ll be great to go out there and play some four quarters of football. It’s going to be packed and it’s going to be awesome.”
Two undefeateds, homecoming and a thirst for revenge. This match up has all the variables to be a game they’ll be talking about long after Friday night.
