The Quincy Fire Department is hosting Fire Safety Day at the Quincy Mall Saturday, October 5 from 11 a.m – 3 p.m.

It is a free event for the whole family to learn about fire prevention tips and see demonstrations from firefighters.

“It’s a great opportunity for families to just come out and get a glimpse of the negative things that can happen when it comes to stuff like that anything fire related,” Mall Manager Mike Jenkins said.

It has been a busy week for Quincy firefighters, all week they have have been traveling to Quincy schools performing fire drills.

With the cooler weather arriving, they say it is a good reminder for kids and adults about the importance of fire safety, including a space heater and fireplace.

“With the cooler weather coming in with different heating aspects of homes and stuff it’s important that everyone has a plan and to practice that plan to make sure they get out safety,” Firefighter Adam Huckey said.
Firefighters across the United States responded to more than 300,000  house fires in 2017, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
