Keokuk is getting ready to start designing its new city hall.
On Tuesday, crews continued to clear the site of the old city hall.
The city is set to meet with Horizon Architects on Thursday to start getting some new designs together for the new space.
City leaders say they’re excited for the process to be moving along.
“Well, it’s not been a year and I’m anxious to get in so I’m ready to see some plans,” Mayor Tom Richardson said. “We all know we like where we’re at temporarily but having a permanent location would be wonderful.”
Since the old city hall burned down in February, the city has been operating our of the Pilot Grove Bank on Main Street.
The city is paying for the new city hall with insurance money.
City leaders say they’re looking for a facility that promotes public access but also promotes employee safety.
