As you take your morning shower, imagine some people not able to afford soap or shampoo.
Care closet in need of donations
It is a reality for many people in Northeast, Missouri and an organization is stepping in but they need your help.
Douglass Community Services in Hannibal offers toiletries through their care closet, which operates off donations.
People who use the emergency food pantry are able to receive items from the closet.
Last month, the closet helped 263 families.
Outreach Coordinator Stacey Nicholas said more families seem to be struggling to afford all their needs.
“Just think of yourself, I get up in the morning, I take a shower, I wash my hair, then I’m ready to face the day. To not have that ability really affects how you want to interact with the world,” Nicholas said.
If you would like to donate, items can be dropped off at Douglass Community Services, located at 711 Grand Avenue, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Items needed: paper towel, toilet paper, shampoo, razors, washcloth & hand towels, deodorant (women’s), deodorant (men’s), bars of soap, toothbrushes, diapers, facial tissues, and laundry soap.
