HANNIBAL (WGEM) — Marion County Emergency Management officials have reported that they will install flood gates in Hannibal Friday.
Officials state that the Hill St. and Center St. flood gates will be installed Friday morning at 8 a.m.
Thursday morning the Mississippi River at Hannibal was at 20.27 feet. Flood stage is at 16 feet.
Marion County Emergency Management Director John Hark said the river is projected to reach 21.1 feet by Wednesday.
“This should be considered as a precaution due to the fact that heavy rains are forecasted over the next 24 to 48 hours,” Hark said.
