Medicare open enrollment begins this week

It’s an important time of the year for older Americans. Open enrollment for Medicare begins Tuesday.

Officials at the Quincy Senior Center say there are changes to be aware of if you are re-enrolling.

They say medicare has a new website this year which is supposed to be more user friendly.

They say it’s important to review your plan carefully to make sure all of your medications are covered.

“All of these plans change. If they stayed the same from year to year it would be great, but they don’t. They change their premiums, they change their deductibles, they change their co-pays, they can even change how they tier medicine and one year they might cover a drug and the next year they may not,” said Gail Murry with the Senior Center.

Open enrollment begins October 15th and runs until December 7th.
