HANNIBAL (WGEM) — Hannibal officials announced that they will be removing the flood gates on Center St. in Hannibal.
Emergency Management Director John Hark stated that the gates are being removed due to the fact that the Mississippi River at Hannibal is foretasted to continue to drop.
Hark also stated that it was being done Friday in conjunction with the Folklife Festival and would be a convenience for the merchants and exhibitors as it will add considerable more parking in the downtown area for the weekend festivities.
Hark stated the gates will be removed at approximately 1 p.m.
