With Election Day fast approaching, Lee County officials spent Tuesday getting prepared and training volunteers to run polling places.
Volunteers learned about cyber security, how to run a polling place and the operation of the voting machines.
In addition to helping protect Iowa election, officials say volunteers are also paid.
“It’s not a very good paying job but it does give you a little bit of extra spending cash and you know it’s usually right before Christmas so we can all use that.”
Auditors office officials say they’re always on the lookout for more volunteers.
