Trying to figure out what healthcare insurance plan is best for you may be confusing, but there is an free event in Hannibal to help.
On Thursday, November 7 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. senior advocates from the Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center and members from the Missouri State Health Insurance Assistance Program (CLAIM) will be at the Hannibal Free Public Library, 200 South 5th Street, helping people 65 and older sign up for 2020 Medicare Plan D coverage.
Plan D involves medication cost and this year the computer sign up system has been re-vamped for enrollment, Senior Advocate Lou Lemen said.
“They’ll help people sort through the different policies and it’s always helpful to have someone else, sitting their with you helping you look at things,” Hannibal Free Public Library Director Hallie Yundt Silver said.
People attending can ask questions and receive help enrolling on site.
“We are providing a valuable service to our seniors by helping them, by going into the computer and putting their information in and we save them money and when you’re on a fixed income you have to do everything possible,” Lemen said.
Caregivers or family members wanting to know more information about Medicare plans are welcomed to attend.
Those wanting to enroll must bring a social security card and a list of medications taken.
