Liberty, Illinois, along with 22 other communities in Illinois will receive funding for the purchase of new emergency vehicles.
Earlier this week, the governor announced that the Liberty Fire Protection District would receive a loan up to $120,000.
Liberty fire officials say they will retire two trucks, a rescue truck and a pumper truck, in order to purchase a new pumper rescue truck. The pumper rescue truck is something the department does not currently have.
“It’s a dual purpose truck,” said Liberty Fire Protection District Treasurer Don Loos. “We can use it at a fire scene at a house fire as well as auto extrication. It’ll carry our auto extrication tools.”
Loos says the department should be getting the new truck in a couple months.
