Vacant house in Keokuk ruled total loss after fire

KEOKUK (WGEM) — Keokuk fire crews battled a vacant house fire late Friday night at 426 G Street.

The call came in around 9:20 PM. When crews arrived, flames were shooting out of the back of the home. That prompted officials to call in all firefighters, including off duty firefighters.

Officials say the home was vacant, so no one was living there at the time.

Fire officials also say the home is a total loss.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
