Adams County Board could play role in Quincy riverfront redevelopment

QUINCY (WGEM) — Riverfront development is back in the spotlight.

At Tuesday night’s Adams County Board meeting, the board introduced an inter-governmental agreement to work on a riverfront project.

The agreement is between Adams County, the city of Quincy and the Quincy Park District.

County officials said pooling the three resources could open up more money and better re-development of the riverfront area.

“Together we can do more. Look at the jail, the sheriff’s department and QPD are going to be living together so if we work together, good things can happen,” said board chairman Kent Snider.

The county would be responsible for $250,000 as part of the agreement.

The county board could vote on the agreement at its December meeting.
