In the “Show Me State” on this Wednesday, it was a big day for celebration at Monroe City High School.
That was because Lady Panther softball standout Lauren Youngblood, the All-State infielder from MCHS, signed a National Letter of Intent this morning with the Jaguars of Indiana University
Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Youngblood’s proud family members were on hand for the monumental moment that started just after 10:30 a.m. inside the Monroe City High lobby.
The smile present on Lauren’s face during her NLI Signing Ceremony, really told the story regarding just how happy she was today to sign with the Jags.
The star shortstop batted a sizzling (.641) with the Panthers this past season, and stole a school record 36 bases as Monroe City’s lead-off batter.
For Youngblood, “comfort” was a big factor that lead to her decision to sign with IUPUI.
“The coaches, they’re just really great to work with. I went to their camp, so I know how they run things and I’m just excited.
Youngblood went on to add, “I think at times I think I’ll miss being in a small town. Indianapolis is really big so, I’ll definitely miss the small town aspect of it.”
