Fort Madison park makes upgrades

Crews worked to give a Fort Madison Park a facelift Friday.

Crews worked on replacing light posts with new LED light sources in Central Park.

They said the newer post and brighter bulbs will make the park safer.

They also said the posts themselves are getting replaced.

“The old fixtures were a real simplistic metal pole, end of life starting to rust out,” president of Mohrfeld Electric Michael Mohrfeld said. “So it was time to replace them.”

The new poles and bulbs will cost around $24,000 and are being paid for by donations from the Fort Madison Rotary Club.
