More Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASAs are needed in Marion, Ralls, and Monroe Counties.
Saturday, officials are holding a fundraiser to be able to expand the local effort.
It’s called the Holiday Bazaar and will take place at the Admiral Coontz Armory Rec Center.
Officials said they have almost 300 kids in foster care but right now CASA is only able to advocate for 60 of them because of limited funding.
“If they do have a CASA volunteer that advocates for them in the court, their outcomes tend to be so much better. They get into a placement with a permanent family quicker than most other foster kids do so the work that CASAs do in our community is really important,” said Youth Services Director Jared Moore.
The bazaar opens up at 9 a.m.
Tickets at the door are $5 and children under 12 get in for free.
