Local business holding fingerprint event for kids

There’s a free resource in Hannibal being offered to parents that could help in the event your child is abducted or goes missing.

It’s called Operation Kid Safe.

The Poage Chevy Buick dealership in Hannibal is able to use a device to scan your child’s fingerprints and take a headshot.

Those are then printed out on a form for parents to fill out and take with them.

If your child were to go missing, the form can be turned into police in order to help them in the search for them.

“I’ve got grandkids so this is something that strikes close to my heart. It was something that was mentioned to me if we wanted to bring it to the area. Hannibal has always been good to us. The Tri-State area has been good to us so this is a way we can give back,” said General Manager Chuck Huston.

Officials say the resource will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

It is free and your child’s data is not stored. All the information is printed on that form.
