It’s been a pleasant start to your weekend with a few passing clouds and plenty of sunshine. Highs reached into the mid-to-upper 40s. Once the sun sets, temperatures will fall back into the 30s. Clouds will continue to build in and it will become overcast after midnight.
Early morning lows will be right around freezing. A cold front will bring the possibility of rain during the morning through the early afternoon. A few areas, mainly in west-central Illinois, could initially start as a wintry mix if temperatures are cold enough. The brief period of wintry mix starting around 7 am could lead to limit impacts on untreated surfaces. Any sleet/wintry mix will quickly change over to all rain as temperatures warm up to highs in the 40s.
The start of the work-week will be dry with temperatures near or around 50. We could even see the 60s on Wednesday as warm air rushed in ahead of our next storm system. Rain will be likely Wednesday evening through the first half of Thursday. Behind the cold front passing on Thursday, day-time highs will back to the 40s to end the week.
