Rain delays harvest again for Tri-State farmers

Wet weather is once again making it hard on farmers as they said the rain forced them out of the fields again on Sunday.

Adams County, Illinois, farmer Rob Hyer said with the snow last week and the rain on Sunday, he’s just ready to get the last 350 acres of corn out of the field.

However, he said it is now feasible to run the dryers.

“The last corn we have is running about 18 to 18.5, so we’re still running the dryers on them, so it doesn’t take long,” Hyer said. “It doesn’t take near the LP to run them or get the corn dried down. So hopefully, like I said, we’re just playing along and should be done by the end of this week.”

Hyer said he plans to be back in the fields Monday as long as the weather stays dry.
