Organizers of the annual Wounded Warrior Deer and Waterfowl Hunt said they had a record turn out for this year’s event.
Officials said 24 vets come to town before heading out to hunt with all of the set up taken care of and paid for by the Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fishermen’s Association. The hosts who own the land they’ll be hunting on said it’s an honor to have the vets out.
“It makes your heart full of comradely about the America, about what our soldiers have given throughout history, and it’s just really great, again, what do you say, I’m sitting here stuttering but it’s really awesome,” said
The vets met at Game Master’s in Quincy to pick up gear and their licenses before heading out to the hunt around noon. This year marks the 11th year of the hunt.
