QUINCY (WGEM) — Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs Director Linda Chapa LaVia was in Quincy for the Illinois Veterans' Home Christmas Party on Friday.
Director Chapa LaVia took time to speak about progress on the construction of the new Veteran's Home in Quincy.
She says even though you don't see any physical progress on the grounds of the home, things are moving in the right direction and construction could begin soon.
"Hopefully we will have demolished and started in the spring coming up of 2020, but right now we have all our bids out there so we can get the right team to do the right amount of work for us and our residents."IDVA Director Linda Chapa LaVia
Director Chapa LaVia added that the construction of the new home is important to the state because the home is an economic engine for the whole area.
