At Palmyra High Tuesday morning after helping the Panthers get to the Class Two State Title game, pitcher Brooke Lawson will be taking her talents down South to Dyersburg State community college in Tennessee.

Lawson is wasting no time and will join the program this Spring.

It's been a winding road for Lawson who played for Illini West before moving to the Palmyra area for her senior season and her journey included two elbow surgeries, but Dyersburg saw the talent, not the damage, which made it the perfect fit.

Lawson said, "It felt great because I know you know coaches look at me and, 'Hey you've had two elbow surgeries, you might go down again.'

Well they didn't look at me like that.

They knew you know if she's hurting we're going to take care of her, we're going to keep her healthy and they just looked at me as an athlete not as oh she has an injury."
