Cape Air prepares to move into Quincy Regional Airport

We are now just weeks away until Cape Air takes over flight service at Quincy Regional Airport.

The current carrier, SkyWest, will suspend operations the night of January 7 and Cape Air will take over the morning of January 8.

Earlier this week, city council approved the airport director to enter into a lease with Cape Air.

"We will have brand new planes," Quincy Director of Administrative Services Jeff Mays says. "We'll have service to both St. Louis and Chicago; $49 to St Louis and $79 to Chicago. We've been doing the prep work and I think it's going to be a smooth transition."

No word yet on when the Cape Air plane will arrive. When it does, airport officials say they will offer a day for the public to come out and view the new aircraft.
