More people are finding jobs, that's what the latest numbers reflect from the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The unemployment rate in the state last month was 3.8 percent. Officials say locally, the unemployment rate in Adams County in October was 3.3 percent. In Pike County, numbers show 3.4 percent unemployment and 3.9 percent unemployment in Hancock County.
Local economic experts see those low unemployment numbers as a double edged sword.
"Our companies, whether they're manufacturing companies, logistics companies, healthcare; they have trouble finding qualified people to fill positions," said Marcel Wagner with the Great River Economic Development Foundation. "Sometimes they have trouble finding enough people."
According to the latest number from the state, the biggest jobs gains were in the leisure and hospitality, education and health services industries. The biggest jobs losses were in construction.
