QUINCY (WGEM) — The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported Tuesday that they are investigating a new case of Legionnaires’ disease at the Quincy Vets' Home.
IDPH officials report that a resident has received medical treatment and is now recovering at the home and that no other cases have been identified.
Officials state the Vets' Home is following its plan to monitor residents for respiratory illness.
IDPH is currently working with the staff at the home to collect information and further investigate the resident's illness. They also report that all staff, residents, families, and Power of Attorneys have been notified.
The last case of Legionnaires' disease at the Illinois Veterans' Home in Quincy was February of 2018.
