Man that assaulted Lyft driver sentenced

Kolter Melvin was sentenced Tuesday for assaulting a Lyft driver in the winter of 2019.

QUINCY (WGEM) — A 21-year-old Quincy man was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in October to battery of a Lyft driver.

Kolter Melvin who was accused of Aggravated Battery and Criminal Sexual Abuse in February entered a plea deal October 24th where the charge of Criminal Sexual Abuse was dropped.

Melvin appeared in Adams County Court Tuesday and was sentenced to 30 months Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities (TASC) probation, 90 days of periodic imprisonment, 100 hours public service work and comply with an order of protection the victim filed against him.

Melvin will get credit for his 90 days stayed in jail.

A review is set for Melvin's probation on April 2nd.
