ISP traffic stop uncovers 43 pounds of cannabis

PITTSFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) — Illinois State Police (ISP) has reported the seizure of 43 pounds of cannabis during a traffic stop on Interstate 72 in Pike County, Illinois.

Brendan Kelly, ISP Director stated that Sunday at 4:53 pm, a trooper stopped a 2019 Dodge Van on Interstate 72 for a traffic violation.

Kelly stated the Trooper could smell the odor of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle.

A vehicle search uncovered approximately 43 pounds of cannabis and drug paraphernalia hidden inside various compartments inside the vehicle.

The driver, Dana Feldman, 50 from Chico, California, and passenger, Erica Friday, 34, from Onley, Maryland, were subsequently placed under arrest and charged with the following:

  • Cannabis Trafficking Possession of more than 5,000 grams of Cannabis
  • Conspiring to deliver more than 5,000 grams of Cannabis
  • Possession of Cannabis Drug Paraphernalia

Kelly reported that both Feldman and Friday were lodged at the Pike County Jail pending bond.

The Illinois State Police were assisted by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the West Central IL Task Force.
