Local food pantries are working together for the Souper Bowl of Caring Canned Food Drive.

The football themed friendly competition is an effort to fill the shelves of and make sure every family has food on the table.

Organizers said donations this time of year are extremely helpful, because donations tend to drop off after the holiday season.

"Within organizations, they will make it a competition or they will offer jean day Friday if you donate, you can wear jeans," Quanada Food Pantry Belinda Cullo said.

You can drop off donations directly at the food pantries or at the Quincy Mall service desk during business hours until February 2.

"So there is a lot of different ways that organizations that have stepped up to the plate and have found ways it make it a fun way to give," Cullo said.

Also, you can donate at Quincy HyVee locations on February 1 and 2 to help the pantries reach their goal.

All the donations will be go toward Quanada, Horizons Social Services, Quincy Catholic Charities, Lutheran Church of St. John and Luther Memorial Church.
