ISBE says fewer people voted illegally than originally thought

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) — The Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) reported on Thursday that based on new information, 15 people had voted illegally in 2018 and 2019 due to a registration error.

ISBE officials originally thought 16 people had voted illegally.

In addition, 3 of those people were citizens but inadvertently checked that they were non-citizens when registering at the DMV, according to ISBE.

Earlier this week ISBE stated that 574 people were accidentally registered to vote in Illinois, even though they are documented, immigrants. This was due to a programming error from the Secretary of State's Office.

Of that 574, ISBE now believes 15 people may have voted illegally in 2018 and 2019.
