Son admits to killing dad, police say

PONTOOSUC, Ill. (WGEM) — A 67-year-old Hancock County man is dead and his 36 year-old-son has admitted to killing him, according to Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger.

Bentzinger said the son was living with his father at 690 4th St. in Pontoosuc.

He said the son told a neighbor that he had killed his father and asked the neighbor to call 911 at around 8:30 a.m.

Bentzinger said the son surrendered to police when they arrived.

Investigators have not revealed what led to the death, or the identities of the father and son, but did say charges will be filed soon.

ISP told WGEM News that they were questioning people in the area regarding the death

ISP also stated that Hancock County Animal Control was on scene to remove animals from the home.
