Father, son in Hancock County killing identified

The Hancock County Sheriff has identified the man who admitted to killing his father in Pontoosuc, Illinois on Monday.

Sheriff Scott Bentzinger said Andrew De Haven, 36, went to his neighbor's house about 8:30 a.m. and asked the neighbor to call the sheriff because he had killed his father.

When deputies arrived at the DeHaven home, Andrew DeHaven told law enforcement that he had killed his father, Michael DeHaven.

Deputies found the 67-year-old's body in the home.

De Haven was taken to the Hancock County jail and formal charged were expected to be filed on Tuesday.
