PALMYRA, Mo. (WGEM) — Changes are on the way to a dangerous intersection just south of Palmyra, Missouri.
MoDOT will begin work on a project to make the intersection on US 61 at Route F safer.
MoDOT officials state they are not sure when the intersection improvements will begin, but it will most likely be later in the spring. The contractor will be starting with pavement repairs first along US 61.
"We're just realigning it to make sure the angle is at a 90 degree right angle and that people aren't having to look over their shoulders to see approaching traffic," said Brian Untiedt with MoDOT.
It's a $6.8 million project that officials expect to take most of the summer.
Most of that money will be spent to repave several miles of US 61 and Highway 24.
